Category 1: Local News and Events Site. All things Los Angeles in a general news format. Includes food reviews, news by neighborhood (ideally you could post specifically about the neighborhood you live in), and entertainment listings (like upcoming parades, free outdoor performances, and other family events). This web design layout also includes a school yard news section that could relate specifically to happenings within the Camino Nuevo organization (all sites), and/or Los Angeles School news issues. The history section is a cool section that will give you the opportunity to really do some online research about Los Angeles in the past (find cool historical photos, etc.) or research the history of the the neighborhood you live in. Choose this layout if you enjoy reading news about Los Angeles.
Category 2: A National (U.S.) News Website. This site would enable you to have a fairly broad swath of news and information to post and organize on your website. For this type of web site I envision news of politics, science and environment news that is national (news dealing with U.S. dependence on oil, global warming, and even alternative fuels science news). The education blog would deal with national news around that topic (education reform in other states and education laws). The Heath and Medicine section might discuss current virus outbreaks in the U.S. (Seasonal Flu), and other health related news that makes national headlines. Chose this type of web layout if you enjoy reading national news (news that affects the entire U.S. population).
Category 3: A Los Angeles Style Website. This site would enable you to dive into your love of arts, entertainment, and Hollywood gossip. Under the dining section you would have two sub sections that break restaurant news and food truck news (after all, what is more stylish in L.A. than food trucks) into two categories. Additionally, you can post your fix of celebrity gossip, music events and listings, theater (plays, opera, and orchestra) listings at venues all over Los Angeles. Lastly, I included a "weddings/celebrations" section into this layout as a "catch-all" for other events that can't be categorized like news related to a famous wedding happening or a high-class party that Will Ferrell is having at his ritzy Holmby Hills home. Choose this layout if you love reading this type of news.
Category 4: An "All things entertainment" website. This web design would be dedicated to happenings in the entertainment world. Music news, Movie reviews and gossip, Television news (related to what's happening on the major and minor networks), gaming news, and book reviews (could relate specifically to teen literature). Choose this design if you really enjoy being entertained and reading about it.
Category 5: Single Team Sports Fan Website/Sport Website. Choose this layout if your are often pre-occupied thinking about your favorite sports team or more general sport like cycling, skateboarding, and snowboarding. The vast majority of this website will include news broken down by player, game results (if your sport is in season), and team news. Be warned, this type of site may be harder to create than it looks. If you choose to go in the more generalized direction you would be covering the latest products available in your sport (newest bike and skateboarding components for example) as well as important news regarding competitions taking place (x-games). Dedicated fans only.
Category 6: A tech gadgets website. This type of website is very specific to consumer electronics and some of the gadgets we use everyday. Choose this type of website if you love reading about new technology relating to phones, computers, tablets, gaming systems (not the games themselves unless the programming is technologically important), and cameras (DSLR's and other professional photo and video equipment).
Category 7: A general technology Website. This is much different from the tech gadgets website because it deals with technology much bigger than those consumer electronics that we can buy. This site would be dedicated to all things technology in the realm of current research. Think, robotics, engineering, military advancements, space exploration, and aviation. This website would be right for you if you love reading magazines like Popular Science or watching Modern Marvels on the History Channel.
Category 8: A Science website. Really want to get into some cool topics, like the environment, mars rovers, energy research, and health? This is the site for you. This web design would encompass all things scientific on a large scale. Global warming, new cancer research, NASA exploration, nuclear energy/safety, and even current research around alternative fuel cells. This site would be fun for the science buff.
